My absolute favorite series as a kid was Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre. If you haven't seen it, and still own a DVD player, I strongly recommend owning this series to show kids these days what kind of special effects we were working with in the 80s'. Or watch it online here. ) Her version of Rumpelstiltskin was equal parts real creepy and total eye candy. The story basically goes that a small magical being agrees to spin straw into gold for a gal trapped in a fib and winds up demanding her firstborn as compensation for the feat. Unless she can guess his name. Fairy tales are strange. But back on topic, I'd like to imagine that with the right mindset, the miller's daughter could have spared herself a lot of stress and worked this wonder on her own. Or at least, improvised!

We've dealt with a lot of crap this year. Not to underplay the seriousness, but it's been a long year just bursting at the seams with upheaval. And we're still standing. We're getting up doing what we can no matter how hard. And given all that 2020 has dished up, that is a superpower. We can shine despite the shadow overhead. I love the line from Rumi "If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?" I also love my grandma Norma's go-to phrase, "shit happens". This has been a tough time but  there's no other way but through.

“If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?”

Our sparkling Straw Into Gold Bracelets reference the power of resourcefulness and the magic of transformation. They're a very special new addition to our Elementos collection and made by hand, right here in Richmond, VA. I hope you love them and I hope you're hanging in there.
